    Re: RSP question

Its BS because I'll be a qualified Infantryman with NO rank on my chest.

I don't care about the money. I do care about an incomplete uniform.

My two RSP's and 14 weeks of OSUT (upon graduation, a total of 7 months enlisted) don't merit a slight bump to E2, but getting two people to sign up and doing NOTHING else gets you an E3? I don't think thats right at all.

A blue cord and a couple of ribbons not bad for a "slick sleeve".

The promotion criteria for promotion to the ranks of E-2 to E-4 are:
      Private (E-2) - Six months time-in-grade (TIG) as a private (E-1).
Private First Class (E-3) - Four months TIG as a Private (E-2) and 12 months time-in-service (TIS).
      Specialist/Corporal (E-4) - 6 months TIG with 24 months TIS.

This is providing your not flagged for anything and you meet or exceed training requirements.

Oh well that is a different Animal, a Infantryman trumps all other MOS's, I dont even know why they offer the other MOS's. Well here is the bottom line there Mr. 11wannabe, all MOS's make the world turn, without the 42a, your a unpaid 11b, without the 92y, you are a naked 11b without a weapon. Dont get the idea that your job is more important than another. Didnt you and I already have a talk about knowing your place and respect for others? Seems you didnt pay attention. You have alot of growing if you still want to try the SF down the road.

Your correct statement is: Its BS because I'll be a qualifed soldier with NO rank on my chest.

I went in as an e-3, I don't suppose there is anyway to get e-4 for putting people in?

Phantom, you got the wrong impression. I said Infantryman because that is my MOS. I'd have said something else if I had gone another path. I see your point, soldier would have sufficed. My recruiter started out in supply and I have all the respect in the world for him. I understand how it is a full circle and each and every job keeps it turning.

7011, thank you for the information. I don't mean to give off the impression I expect to be CSM after a couple RSP's; the blank patch on my uniform just looks wrong to me. I also think its wrong to give rank just for making a referral. But, its not my job to think. I'm over it.

Just one more thing to earn.

                lol wtf is that?

and I will join the peace corp one day if they'll have me after the army. They help a lot of people and promote the US image overseas.

You'll appreciate it more once you earn it. Military will teach you that hard work, initiative, and drive pays off. You get what you put into it plain and simple!

Sky is the limit it is up to YOU to go get it. Get some hooah!

OK, I'll stir the pot a bit....

I'm not a big fan of folks claiming ranks they haven't earned. One example is displaying stripes they have "earned" (on this forum, for instance, or on their cars) and they haven't spent ONE DAY in BCT yet.

I understand the concept of earning rank for recruiting others to come into the military. But asking about "getting" rank all the way up to E4/E5 before you have spent a single day in uniform? Really?!?

Forget E2 and E3. Wait till you see the kinds of people that make E5 through E7!

That's the nature of the National Guard Enlistment Process. They're obligated the day they sign the contract. They're offically in, well in one sense.

I would like to "get" some rank all the way up to 06......haha, how do you do that?

                                Re: RSP question

Well thanks for all the replies! I really appreciate them! I've been talking to a recruiter and I'm enlisting in three weeks! I'm so excited to finally have the opportunity to serve my country and my community as a member of our armed forces! I'll be getting either MOS 13B or 13F! I'm leaning more towards 13F though because it sounds more interesting.I'll only need one more referral to get E-3 as I'm referring my older brother!

Oh and I'll be going to my first RSP in October down in Camp Williams here in Utah.Anyone here been there for RSP? how was it? Did you like it? The recruiter said the NCOIC there is a SF guy so it should be fun! Thanks in advance for the replies!
