I personally call people volunteering for combat tours hardcore. Not those who were just ordered to go there. We've little control over what Uncle Sam has written for us. One can dump on me for rotting in Cuba for a year, but I took what the army gave me.

I agree there, I'm just saying I hate when people rag on my MOS when some people never did anything in the military.

people that seem to care more about school rather than serving

thin skin(if you cant take a joke/or getting yelled at how can you handle a combat situation?)

fat dudes who were airborne/SF/ranger that have "seen so much, that they cant talk about".

the ones that cant pass a pt test because of their "condition" and know more than the army docs, and there always in a bad mood for some reason

                oh and the FOOD....lol

ROTC and JROTC cadets that think they're bad A$$e$. Not all are bad, but a select few around here I've had some interesting conversations with. Especially last Saturday at an annual military ball the local high school NJROTC hosts every year. I'm used to all the local HS cadets because I help out the local recruiter, but two Army ROTC cadets showed up. This was fine with all of the chaperones, including me. They got mad at me and a good friend of mine because she wouldn't dance with them, but she did with me. Well they approached me and her(whom is also in the NG) and started harassing her. Well I told them they had to leave if they was going to start trouble. The senior cadet tried pulling rank on me!! I was like "WTF?!" (I didn't use vulgar language during the whole conversation) That didn't go over to well with me when he tried to order me to parade rest. Well I looked over at the NCO's in charge and they gave me the ok to let into this kid. He's talking all kinds of crap, but I shut him up real quick by pointing out uniform deficiencies. I'm not going to go into much detail about the rest of the event, but they were moving with a purpose when they left. It's really stupid to trash talk someone's career when they haven't even done anything. Point is it really irks me when cadets have no respect for members of the military because they think they out rank and can do anything we do. They don't even know.

It boiled down to this: reporting statement and "show me your ID". If ID is on the list to let in, let in. If not, dont let in.

                        Nobody seemed to get it.
ohhh fun stuff! I remember a senior ti from our brother flight kicking our door and ****. Poor dorm guard thought he was going to bust it down and almost let him in....

                          4. Ok, this is actually possible in my unit... EX: College grad comes in as an E-4 but declines to go to OCS. We have several E-5/6 slots open in my parent unit for a hard charger b/c a lot of the current E-4's can't seem to get thier act together and what not. My CO advised me that making E-5 if I decided OCS was not for me is possible in a short time if I want it bad enough...

Re: Military things that irk you.

That it takes hours on Sunday drill weekend to do a little bit of paperwork. Why couldnt a few of those Soldiers that werent assigned anything to do all day Saturday, start some of that work that needs to get done by the time we leave on Sunday. Maybe their MOS doesnt state they can do it, but I bet with a little bit of training they sure could.

That I never know when COC says to be somewhere at a certain time if they have included the be 15 minutes earlier then the 15 minutes early you are supposed to be there or not.

That organized sports can be cancelled because it is causing too many injuries but yet you can be expected to run the APFT two mile run on a road with holes big enough to swallow a person, in the dark.

Being kept in the dark about things. No maybe you dont think it is important that I know why I am ordered to do something really retarded, but it would sure save on all the time we sit around and complain about it when it could easily have been resolved if you had just told us why. Knowledge is power and there is no reason why you have to act so much better just because of what you wear on your chest. I understand in IET being kept in the dark and what it teaches a person. But once I am part of the team, just remember that I do know that in combat I could be ordered to do something that doesnt make sense to me and I will do it without hesitation, but right now, will it really hurt you to tell us what is going on.

Specialists being promoted just because. I think WLC should be done as a Specialist again and required for Sergeant.

Some Army JROTC cadets actually tried to pull friggin rank on an enlisted man? No way....

Unbelieveable. Was part of your correction reminding them they aren't even in the Army (assuming they aren't SMP)?
