  • va office phone disconnected?

I reenlisted into the National Guard December 2009,I signed a 6 year enlistment with GI Bill 1606 benefits. I obtained a NOBE from my unit and took it to my school's VA official who sent it in to verifiy my enrollment of 6 credit hours (half time) on Jan 11 2010.
I applied on the VA website the same day and after about a month recieved a letter in the mail denying my benefits. The letter said I did not have a 6 year enlistment, so I went to the education services office had another NOBE printed and refiled, still have not heard anything.
What can I do to resolved this problem ?
Can I get this straigtened out through my school or my National Guard's education office, or through my unit?
I know the VA offices our very busy and I don't want to add to that, however I was entitled to this benefit and the money is really needed.
Tried calling the VA (1-888-GIBILL-1) to find out what the heck is going on and thier phone has been disconnected!
COME ON DEPLOYMENT, TAKE ME AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

The number works fine. You must be dialing it wrong.
