  • Tricare Reserve Select

One of the perks of being in the guard is low cost insurance. You can cover yourself for 80/mnth, and your family for 100/mnth (for family the soldier has to be covered too).

I just switched my baby girl's insurance over, we were paying 300/mnth jsut for her.

The Guard is looking out for families too.

Nah, he wasn't accounting for the 80 dollars prior to paying 100 for family. He thought you were saying it was only 100 total.

How did you sign up for it? I am newly enlisted and I really don't like bugging my reruiter too much for info as he has his hands full elsewhere.

                        Re: Tricare Reserve Select

Actually, I've yet to see ANY reports from singles or families here that have actually had to use this and how much they had/didnt have to pay out of pocket and what the catches were.

Yet everyone praises the **** out of it?

                          Re: Tricare Reserve Select

My first time using it cost me $60 for 4 x-rays. I hear that after the first time it goes down a good bit. I will let you know soon. I went to the doctor 2 or 3 weeks ago and got tested for mono and strep throat but I have not been billed yet. I know generic prescriptions are $3 and name brand are $6.

I like TRS so far. The first time it costs more since the added 50 bucks. I had a med screen thing that cost around 700 dollars. I just had to pay 50.:D
