I really do hate cadence when you run...

If you are running, you should be running...hard/fast

Not singing. We sang not one cadence in IOBC. Never once.

Oh, I forgot all about this one....

Old King Cole was a merry old soul,
a merry old soul was he.
He called for his pipe and he called for his bowl and he called for his Privates three.
Beer! Beer! Beer! Said the Privates.

        What merry men are we!
but none so fair that we can compare to the (insert whatever the heck you do)

..And then it goes on up to Col. If I remember correctly.

Sergeants would lead the nastiest cadences at Bct and Ait, but they would first start out by telling us they would get into so much trouble if someone found out...

We marched to and from the schoolhouse about 3/4 of a mile each day, the same road the SM used to and from work each day. When we saw her car coming we would just all know to stop the cadence and the student leadership or Sergeant would quickly switch to another one. If we didnt switch fast enough we were taken to the road that ran parellel to this road and get smoked for an hour. We had 'cool' BN leadership in Bct and they didnt really care one way or another. This was Sept '07-Feb '08 at Fort Jackson.

Ok no one is gonna get this unless you know anything about M.I. or the 35F MOS, but we would always change this cadence:

            "82nd...patch on my shoulder
Pick up your chutes and follow me
            Airborne Infantry"

To our own version, which was specific to the BN my company was in at AIT...we found it hilarious whenever we sung it:

            "305...MI Battallion
Pick up your laptop and follow me
            I hate IPB"

Like I said, unless you've been through the 35F school for AIT...it probably doesn't make sense lol

My all time favorite cadecne has got to be a marching one called " I know a Soldier way down in Georgia " when DS Angsley used to sing it it was very soothing morning and at night.

for marching I really like the bird song. ours was something like

a yellow bird, with a yellow bill, was sitting on my window sill,
can't remember the rest, something about squished the bird, killed him dead.

this one was pretty good, very basic actually helped the weaker trainees with their marching.

                          Here we go again,
                          marching down the avenue
6 more weeks and I'll be through
I'll be glad and so will you

                          left, left, left right
                          1,2,3,4,

for running I don't think anything beats....

                          C-130 rolling down the strip
airborne Daddy gonna take a little trip
stand up hookup, shuffle to the door
jump right out and count to four.

If my chute don't open wide
I've got another one by my side
                          ..... (can't remember the rest)

and then there is something about grannies.

one granny turned to the other and said
I wanna be an airborne ranger
live the life of *** and danger

you can tell it's been a long time I have a few gaps.

                                my fav is Yellow Ribbon:

Around her hair she wore a yellow ribbon
She wore it in the spring time, in the early month of May
And if you asked her why the heck she wore it
She'd say she wore it for her soldier who was far, far away
                                Far away
                                Far away
She wore it for her soldier who was far, far away
Around the block she pushed a baby carriage
She pushed it in the spring time, in the early month of May
And if you asked her why the heck she pushed it
She'd say she pushed it for her soldier who was far, far away
                                Far away
                                Far away
She pushed it for her soldier who was far, far away
Behind the door, her father kept a shotgun
She kept it in the spring time, in the early month of May
And if you asked her why the heck she kept it
She'd say she kept it for her soldier who was far, far away
                                Far away
                                Far away
She kept it for her soldier who was far, far away
Around his grave she laid the pretty flowers
She laid them in the spring time, in the early month of May
And if you asked her why the heck she laid them
She'd say she laid them for her soldier who was far, far away
                                Far away
                                Far away
She laid them for her soldier who was far, far away

                                Kinda makes me :(
