RE-1A vs RE-1

    Since there are so many RE code questions here I figured what the hay....

    Can anyone explain the difference between an RE-1 and an RE-1A? Is one mo' better than the other?

    look at my post "Marine going Guard". WO1 put some info on the last page about all the different RE codes 1-4 and all the sub codes

      Well yeah I saw that and thats why im asking what the difference is between the two. It just says they are both eligible for reenlistment but no other explanation. If they are supposed to be the same then what is the reason for the two codes?

        Basically no difference. Those were Marine Re codes and in the past 1A was the lowest code before 1. My friend discharged from the Marines in 1992 and she received a 1A. Here are the links...

        what might be a RE-3C in the marines might be totally different from an RE-3C in the Army
