  • Fort Knox BCT, sending mail to son

My son is in BCT @ Fort Knox. He called today to give me his address. I'm afraid I may have taken it down wrong. 1st Platoon KHAOS. I'm not sure the KHAOS is correct or if it is KAOS. Can anyone assist? My other question is regarding graduation. I have seen posts that say at other bases if you do BCT & AIT the graduation is only at the end of AIT. Does anyone know if this is the case at Fort Knox?

            Son at Fort Knox

His MOS is tanks. He's 19K. Thank you all for the links and answers. I looked on the Fort Knox web site but couldn't find anything about KHOAS. I did see a graduation schedule that is very helpful. I'm sorry if I'm not clear on everything......I'm just learning the lingo. This forum site has been very informative. ;)

Khoas is the platoon name i'd assume which can change periodically. I doubt you would see that name. As long as you get it to the right company with his Last Name included on the address he has a good posibility of receiving the mail. He may get razed for not having the exact address correct on the envelope, but the mail is worth it. You do have the platoon number which will work.

              Example for the address:

PV2 (or whatever rank he is) Last Name, First Name
Alpha Company, 1st Platoon (name of platoon if you have it)
              1234 Main St
              Fort Knox, Kentucky 12345

This is true. He is in OSUT and should receive information on his graduation shortly. WIBECKY is correct on the address. The spelling of the name is irrelevant but it is probably KHAOS. Just make sure it has his name, by last name and and platoon number. The company is important to.

Ok, I see you have a street on the address too. He didn't mention that. Will the mail still get to him? I assume, the address gives the post office the clue that the mail goes to the base.

I never had a street address when I was at BCT so this is new as well.

At Fort Jackson it was the address of the Personnel Office or something like that for the entire Bn. All mail for the Bn went there, got sorted, and then someone from each company went to pick it up each day. Ait at Fort Jackson had individual addresses.

Thats pretty much how I put it. But that isnt likely going directly to his company, going to the mailroom first and then being sent to it. The Army has this thing about only certain people touching the mail. You have to be certified so it goes to the central mailroom and sorted from there.

I have no idea. That's just what I was given. I know he gets his mail and he use to write that as the return address but he just started putting PVT Smith. It all confuses me a little bit. Mostly because he's a rank or two above PVT. (I must say I have forgotten which)
