  • Navy wanting to go guad, please help

I'm currently in the navy, I'm a CS3 (E-4, culinary specialist). I have already put in my early release package to join the army but they are no longer taking my rate and the blue to green program has come to a halt as of this month. I really would like into the guard, is there any state that could help make that happen? Willing to relocatefor the right MoS, currently stationed in California.

I suggest you remain in until you ETS and see what happens. The Navy should have a transitioning program similar to ACAP that should put you in line with NG recruiters waiting to receive you.

Just wondering, what do you dislike about about the navy? And what is appealing to you about the army?

The way I explain my feelings for the army and the navy to my buddies is. " how do you feel when someone says the word sailor? Now how about the word soldier?" I just feel a lot more pride behind one of the two titles and what they do to earn it. I was in the army 6 years ago as an 18 year old kid with problems at home so I left. I tried to get back in later but the navy was the only branch willing to help, It's been 3 years in the navy and I'm ready to get back to the job that made me proud to be doing it.

I prefer the term squid myself. The Navy is no different in the Army in that it is what you make of it.

              It's a beautiful thing, Sir!

Spurling, I sent you a PM with the number of a recruiter here in Reno, Nevada. I'm not sure exactly what we're accepting right now, but he'd be able to answer that pretty quickly for you.

Exactly and I concur. I heard the term swabbie and so what. You are serving and that is what counts. I have a friend that I grew up with and without a degree he was able to commission as an LDO (limited-duty officer). The Army doesnt have that and I think that its excellent that there are programs like that for enlisted sailors to excel.
