  • ROTC commission as Physician Assistant

I'm an smp Cadet who has been seriously considering adding the PA program through my college to what I am doing. I know this will screw things up with rotc and me commissioning. I was told that commissioning as a PA through rotc is a waste and I may incur an additional service obligation if I accept any of the PA benefits ($20K per yr bonus or $75K slrp). Is anyone familiar enough with this program to know ? I contacted my state's AMEDD recruiter and am waiting to hear from him currently so we can have a longer conversation. The PA program at my school is a Master's program. I still have 2years until I finish my Bachelors.

    Thanks for the input

ROTC is for basic branch commissioning. That's a different animal than commissioning for a clinical speciality in AMEDD. You are welcome to serve as a basic branch officer in the Guard and as a civilian PA.

You've really got to talk with your AMEDD recruiter.
