  • Pregnant OCS Candidate?

What happens if a soldier who is in an officer candidate status with their unit (has a date for OCS, but it's a few months out, so the soldier is still drilling with the unit as an OCS candidate) thinks she is pregnant?

First, she needs to determine her status with a medical professional. The eight dollar test at Wal-Mart is fine to start, but if she suspects pregnancy, she needs to determine that medically. If she is indeed pregnant, she must inform her chain of command. Her medical status will determine her eligibility to participate in OCS. She may need to withdraw and reapply later once she is medically fit. The chain of command would not consider withdrawal for pregnancy as prejudicial (i.e., as if she had failed a test).

You will not go to OCS until after you have the baby and have been cleared. OCS is very stressful physically and it is in the best interest of you and your child that you not attend.

Thank you gentlemen, for your answers. I was just trying to figure out if you would get thrown out of the Guard, or just put on hold to attend OCS until after the baby.
