  • New EPS

Hey, trying to find info on the new EPS, we had a briefing on it this weekend but I was doing sensitive item inventory and missed it. I can't seem to find anything on it via the magic google.

Aid available to update files for E-5, E-6 promotion
      system

      By Jim Tice

Soldiers can get help updating their personnel records as the June 1
launch of the new sergeant and staff sergeant promotion sys*tem gets
      closer.

The new sergeant and staff sergeant promotion system for Regular
Army and Army Reserve soldiers will require active-duty soldiers to be
quality-control man*agers for their personnel and training records so they can
stay competitive for promotion under the new monthly cutoff score sys*tem, Army
personnel officials said. Brigade and battalion S1 admin*istration sections and
unit human resources specialists have been directed to immediately assist
sol*diers in updating their records, which will have data for the new promotion
      point worksheet.

Soldiers are responsible for ensuring their records are
accurate and up-to-date, and for maintaining all promotion-related
      documents.

Here are new details, including key dates, from Army
officials: ■ National Guard soldiers will not be
included in the new system, at least for the near-term.

      ■ Soldiers must be placed on the appropriate
recommended list by April 20 to be eligible for promo*tion to sergeant or staff
      sergeant June 1.

Board recorders and DA Forms 3356 (Board Member Appraisal) and 3357 (Board
Rec*ommendation) will not be used on April 20 and later, as they will be
obsolete under a system that will use an automated promotion point
      worksheet.

      ■ Under the
civilian education section of the worksheet, soldiers will receive one promotion
point for each semester hour completed. All quarter, contact and clock hours
will be converted to semes*ter hours, with semester hours being defined as 15
hours of class*room contact plus 30 hours of out*side
      preparation.

A manual with instructions on use
of the automated worksheet and changes to the eMilPO (elec*tronic personnel
office) will be issued soon by Human Resources Command,
      according to personnel officials.

      Initially, the automated work*sheet
will be used for Regular Army and Army Reserve soldiers
assigned to the Active Guard and Reserve program.

      While remaining
elements of the Army Reserve will adopt the new scoring system June 1, they
will use a manual worksheet until automated support
systems become available. In the interim, promotion scores for non-AGR Army
Reserve soldiers will be dis*played on a modified DA Form 3355 (Promotion Point
      Work*sheet Army Reserve). □ <!-- END FOR TRANSLATE -->
