WASHINGTON — The U.S. Army Special Forces Green Berets get plenty of acclaim — sometimes too much acclaim. Often it’s a case of mistaken identity.

Salute to them all. They aren't just doorkickers, figures overused by actors and cool characters to play as in a video game.

This confusion and mixing up has always bothered me. Much in the same way the differences between a Ranger(75th) and a Ranger qualifed(SQI) soldier are confused constantly. Just because a soldier has a short tab doesn't mean he has ran around the world and participated in special operations.

Or the ones that see an airborne tab over an SSI and thinks that trooper is jump qualified. I see boo-boos and misconception daily in the US Army.

Just because an organization or entity has been around for decades or even centuries does not mean the public or it's members have a solid understanding of it. Goes with anything in life.
