  • Getting Fit, Any Hints?

    Im getting ready to fully enlist in the National Guard. I have an ok build but find myself running out of energy fast. Any hints on how to improve my stamina?

    Run, RUN, AND RUN !!! Mix it up, run 1 mile mon, 3 miles tues, half mile repeats wed, 2 miles thur, quarter miles fri, and a slower longer run sat: four miles week 1. Adding a mile every 2 weeks. go 7-8 out of 10 effort on mon,tues,thur. 10 out of 10 on wed and fri. And just dont walk on sat. Mix in fast push ups and sit ups as well. Hope this helps (:

        Don't just limit yourself to running. Get involved in a strength and conditioning program like Crossfit. You will get stronger, faster, and be able to smoke the Army APFT.

              Not positive but I think you sprint all out for 30 seconds, then walk/jog for 60

                Nailed it. You sprint for 30 seconds (or 60 if you're doing 60/120's), then walk or jog for 60 seconds (or 120...). It really helps to improve your speed while running.

                  And I recommend the musical of accompaniment of anything by Rise Against.....its fast paced and a little hardcore but has pushed me through alot of plateaus
