I know there are certain MOSs/Fields that are authorized the wear of cords (Infantry wears blue cord, etc.) what are the prerequisites for medical personnel to wear the cord (I believe it is red or scarlet?). Is it by the discretion of the unit commander? I looked it up on my AR 670-1 but the information is very vague and it is outdated...SEVERELY

Basically, don't bother buying one, you will never wear it. 670-1 states the Infantry Blue cord can be worn on dress uniforms. Only other ones are for Aides De Camp and foreign unit awards. They can't be worn unless awarded to the unit as a whole and even then can only be worn by the unit that was awarded it. Meaning, if you get transfered out of the unit, say goodbye to the cord you wore while there too. You will never wear an MOS cord.

A former grunt who has reclassed to 42A wore his infantry cord and discs at our last formal. Since he is no longer infantry, can he still wear it?

If he is still on the books with a primary MOS as 11 series and working in a 42A as a secondary MOS then yes, otherwise...NO.

Right, the key part is the primary MOS.

That is what I thought. 42A is his primary. Is this in 670-1 or some other AR?

edit: I found the link and pasted it in a new post but requires moderator approval.

A blue cord? You consider that a perk?

Yea, if He's not in an infantry slot, tell him to lose the Cord.
