  • can i stay in the guard with ptsd?

ive been in the florida army national guard for almost 9 years now. I was diagnosed by the VA with ptsd and awarded 50% disability. What happens now? Will i be kicked out? Will i be able to deploy? I was planning on staying in for 20 years.

    Thanks- Matthew

Re: can i stay in the guard with ptsd?

I'm AD but a soldier in my unit did not deploy because during our SRP, the doc found him non- deployable due to PTSD. He remained on rear-d and ETSed this year. There is a risk to the unit and SM themselves if they have documented PTSD. So that is why it's best to keep the soldier out of theater. Discuss the matter with your leadership.
