  • Wearing ASU's

I am playing Taps for a 9/11 ceremony in a couple weeks. (I know, why they didn't have the ceremony on 9/11 doesn't make any sense to me.) It is being put on by the department of veterans services at the local university here. Would it be okay to wear my ASU's to play taps for this ceremony? I wont be getting paid, and it's not through the national guard, but it seems like an appropriate time to wear my ASU's. I'm not sure on the regs for that though.

I will just give a quick call to your first line and have him check for you.

I would say it's fine given the function that it is for. It's not like someone is going to arrest you.

I would say yes, You do not need authorization to wear the ASU's. It is a correct function to wear them to. Just make sure your uniform is squared away and that you behavior is in the best intrest of the Army while in uniform.
