  • Vietnam era officer/prior enlisted service retirement

I served from Aug 56 to May 64 as EM, was commissioned via OCS and served until RFAD in April 1972. I had 15 yrs, 8 mos, 15 days active duty. I continued in inactive status until discharged in Aug 1976 as Captain. No retirement.

Now I am well past 60 and wondering if I am entitled to any retirement, either enlisted or commissioned.

Any advice or experience would be appreciated.

Did you get a 20 year letter? But based on your post, I would not think so.

Also, your IRR time will not provide you with good years of service. Meaning those other 4+ years you did in the IRR, you would have to make up to get your official 20. Because IRR time does not give you enough points for the year to be considered a good year.

Wow, you were serving before I was even born and I am considered the OLD GUY on the forum.
