  • GRFD Scholarship

I am currently going to be a senior in highschool. I plan on enlisting in the Ohio National Guard within the next couple weeks, going to Ohio State, and participating in the ROTC program (SMP option). While the Guard pays 100% tuition, I am hoping to obtain a GRFD Scholarship to help pay for room and board.

How exactly do I begin to go after one of these scholarships? Is this something I can start now, or do I have to wait until I get into Ohio State or commission in the ROTC Program? Is this better than the ARNG scholarship due to keeping the Montgomery GI Bill pay every month? I have a 3.85 GPA and 29 ACT. I play football, basketball, and run track. Does this give me a decent shot at getting one of the scholarships?

Thank you for any advice, it's appreciated.

Make a good impression by rocking your first PT test, let your cadre know you're interested, they'll help you from there.
