    Montgomery GI Bill-Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR) Kicker

    Eligibility
    1. The recipient and current Army National Guard (ARNG) member cannot receive the Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP) or Re-enlistment Extension Bonus (REB) simultaneously with this incentive.
    2. Applicant/Soldier must be eligible to receive Chapter 1606 and/or Chapter 30 educational benefits to be eligible for this incentive.
    3. May only establish a Selected Reserve Kicker (SELRES) eligibility only once in their military career.
    4. A Non-Prior Service (NPS) applicant, including those enlisting under the Split-Training Option and/or Civilian Acquired Skills Program (CASP), is eligible for the $200 MGIB Kicker bonus providing they:
    a. Enlist, Reenlist/Extend for a minimum 6 year term of service
    b. Enlist in a valid MOS vacancy in the grade of E-4 or below and must not fill an over-strength or manually loaded slot. Exceptions are not authorized. Refer to the regulation for more details on Tier levels and scoring.
    c. Minimum AFQT (ASVAB) score of 50.
    d. Must meet the Tier 1 educational requirements. Refer to regulation for more details.
    5. A Prior Service Applicant/Soldier is eligible for the $200 MGIB Kicker with or without a bonus provided they:
    a. Enlist for a minimum of 6 year term.
    b. Enlists/affiliates in a valid MOS vacancy at the grade E-5 or below. Refer to regulation for Tier levels and scoring.
    c. Minimum AFQT (ASVAB) score of 31.
    d. Must meet the Re-entry (RE) and Separation Program Designator (SPD) codes requirements for enlisting.
    e. If enlisting from another branch of service, the Applicant/Soldier must meet the MOS requirements they are enlisting for.
    f. Any Reserve Component Service Member that is eligible for this incentive is only able to establish the Kicker once in their military career. If they have previously contracted for the Kicker in a Reserve Component and have not completed their initial 6 year obligation, then they are not eligible to contract for this MGIB-SR Kicker. The exception is an Army Reserve Soldier who transfers to the National Guard without a break of service. They must complete their 6 year contract and remain in their Army Reserve contracted MOS.
    6. A current National Guard Soldier is eligible for the $200 MGIB-SR Kicker as a stand-alone incentive provided they:
    a. Reenlist/Extend for a 6 year service commitment between 365-91 days from their ETS. A Soldier within 90 days of their ETS is not eligible.
    b. Are the primary position holder in the grade E-5 or below in an MOS that is not over-strength or in excess status. The MOS must match the skill qualification with the position prior to the MGIB-SR Kicker start date. Deployed Soldiers coded "999K" and GIMS are eligible.
    7. A Soldier coded "999M" is not eligible while in a medically non-available status.
    8. A Soldier eligible to extend for Deployment Extension Stabilization Pay (DESP) but chooses not to participate is not eligible for SLRP until 12 months after his or her ETS or obligated service date.
    9. All forms must be signed and approved before the execution date. Refer to the regulation for more details.

    Other important details:
    1. Soldier remains eligible for incentive providing they have completed AIT or BOLC, remain a drilling member, and continues to meet the eligibility of their enlistment contract.
    2. A deployed Soldier will have their incentive extended beyond their ETS for the same period of each mobilization plus 4 months.
    3. A Soldier medically discharged due to disability incurred through no misconduct will remain eligible for Kicker benefits for 14 years from the original date of eligibility.

    Ineligibility:
    1. An applicant enlisting under the Active First Program, GED Plus Program, RFP is not eligible. (Note: a RFP Soldier may be eligible for an incentive upon entrance into the Active Status).
    2. Applicant enlisting as a Glossary Non-Prior Service (GNPS) is not eligible.
    3. A Soldier in a Military Technician or Active Guard and Reserve (AGR) status is not eligible, even if deployed.
    4. Soldiers who at the time of discharge from the ARNG or USAR were fully eligible for reenlistment/extension and are within 365 days of their discharge are not eligible for this incentive.
    5. Applicants that do not have an honorable discharge or an honorable release from all their military service are not eligible. This includes “General under Honorable” discharges. The only exception is a Soldier completing Initial Active Duty Training (IADT) with an “Uncharacterized” discharge; they will be eligible.
    6. Soldier failed to complete AIT or BOLC is ineligible to receive incentive.
