  • ROTC Scholarship and National Guard

I heard from an admissions representative at North Georgia College and State University that you cannot be a member of the National Guard while in college if you receive a four-year Army ROTC scholarship. Is this true? Because I have been looking into this for a little over a year and he is the first person to have mentioned it.

    Thanks

Yes. Four year scholarships are not legally compatible with concurrent ARNG service because of the legalities of their funding. Other ROTC scholarships (i.e., Dedicated ARNG Scholarships) have a different set of legalities behind them. In fact, a DedARNG scholarship has the opposite feature, inasmuch as concurrent service is a requirement to accept the scholarship.
