  • Dog Handler School

Ok well I'm set to swear in next Thursday (October 3rd), my recruiter locked in 31b MP as my MOS in for me. Now I wanted answers to from other people on this, in my state, Massachusetts, there is no k9 unit. But my recruiter told me, it is still possible to at least still go to the school for the experience so that if my unit deploys, they have an some soldiers with dog handler experience. Is that true?

As a former 31B, it does not work that way.

Also, if you have used the search feature, you would have found some info I posted recently.

Here is the link so you can read.

This is one of those MOSs that makes sense for Active Duty but not the RC. While you hold the MOS, you don't have dog. It takes a lot of initial/continuing training with a dog for you to become certified.
