  • Travel Assistance or Reimbursement Question

Hey there, I was wondering if there was any travel assistance or travel reimbursement for when my husband goes to his monthly drills? I only ask this because he will have to travel 125 miles one way and more than likely have to stay over night at a hotel. Thanks in advance!

Re: Travel Assistance or Reimbursement Question

For drill weekends he will not be paid for travel. If he is on orders (annual training), he will get paid for his travel.

Depending on the command/state, there is a good chance he will get some kind of lodging ie hotel room or be able to sleep at the unit.

You already have one good reply, so I will only add a few ideas.

      1. Look into carpooling to share the expense.
      2. Look into sharing a hotel room with another commuter.
      3. Make friends with a Soldier who lives locally, and crash on his couch.
      4. Keep track of unreimbursed expenses of this nature, and file Form 2106 with the IRS at tax time.
