  • RIP WOCS Candidate

He died during the land nav portion and still under investigation.

    His name looks familiar.

Saw this on the news and thought about posting; wasn't sure if he was NG or Active. Either way, it's a bummer. I'll update if I see anything else on the news about it.

uhm...the fact that what I've been reading is that there is a ton of land nav in the 09S program, and that such a controlled exercise there is still a fatality. Yes I know, story is still unfolding and for all we know, the dude probably had health issues or something, I'm sure the land nav courses are safe from unknown elements like lions, tigers, bears.

You volunteered to join the military, an occupation that carries inherent and widely publicized risks of death both in training and while deployed. Get over it.

By the way, the level of land navigation skill officer candidates are expected to demonstrate is, to put it bluntly, minimal.

Also, this has happened before which enforced stricter controls (during the WLC courses and regular land nav training). This has happened in Hood and Bragg that I know of.

I was just kidding..anyways, still sucks to die in training.. Also, thanks for the tip that land nav is easy sauce. Here I am fretting that it's rocket science.
