Great. I have to buy a bunch of UCP ACUs for training this summer ($600 worth) all to be replaced by a new design sometime thereafter. The thing I can't understand is why not have a "garrison" ACU and then issue different ACU's depending on the combat location (woods = woodland ACU, desert = desert ACU).

That's sorta along the lines that we have now. Garrison units wear the UCP Gravel zgrey while folks who deploy are issued the Multi-Cams.

If they go with multicam for garrison and field use, how long would you say it'd take for NG unit to be issued them?

When multicam was issued, actually an NG unit that was deploying was issued them first. So, it can be immediate with active duty or some time after.

                Interesting.

I was thinking more about the units who are not deploying, how long until they're issued multicams for garrison use.

I think that will not happen since multicam is a one uniform solution. I think the new uniform selection will become the sole uniform for garrison and deployed use and perhaps special ops/Rangers will remain with that garb.

The story behind the US Army camo fiasco.

Rumor coming out of Fort Lewis that the Black and Gold colors were selected as the new Army PT. Has yet to been confirmed.

And I just had to buy a bunch of PT uniforms and ACUs for training this summer.

I heard they're bringing back the CWU-27/p (pickle suit).

Some threads no longer have the reply button. I wanted to post this in one of the multicam threads. There was debate that there were no multicam desert and transitional patterns and this article explains there were.

BTW, we should know the new camo selection in two weeks.

I can't help but feel like the Army spent 5 million on modifying the USMC MARPAT.
