  • Firing Range

I have a silly question so bear with me. Do National Guard armories have firing ranges where Soldiers can practice firing weapons? Here is the really silly part: If so, can a soldier go not on a drill weekend to practice? Can said soldier bring a personal carry weapon onto the range (assuming it exists)? Thanks for any replies!

99% of the time, armories do not have their own ranges. They shoot at NG Bases or Federal bases. In addition, it is unlawful to carry (concealed or otherwise) a firearm on a government military installation, save for a few exceptions (LE, FBI, etc).

For those armories that do have their own range for whatever reason, I still doubt you'd get to practice due to lack of full-time range personnel, ammo costs, etc. Bringing your own weapon at any time to a range is a no-no.
