  • Armor units in the Southeast?

I'm currently preparing to join (PT and my waistline needs work), and am investigating possible units.

Are there currently any Armor companies (tank elements of a given HBCT) within decent driving (3-4 hours) of NW Florida? I think there used to be a Mech infantry unit in Alabama, but the last round of reshuffling seems to have re-rolled it.

    Thanks

Have you looked at their main page??

Also, I left Germany in '11 and was shocked to read this article in the Stars and Stripes.

Their IBCT is light. I do not think there are any mechanized units in that state.

Yes, Florida Guard (in terms of Combat Arms) is basically the 53rd IBCT and elements of the 20th SFG (possibly a bridge too far, for me). That's why I was asking about surrounding states.....but all evidence that I can gather suggests that the closest tank unit is in Mississippi (ironically, where I just got my degree...).

          Thanks
