  • Family day Graduation day?

I dont have any blood family but my boyfriends family has pretty much adopted me for the most part the mom and dad treat me like one of their own kids in every way. i love it lol. i heard that they can come for family day already but im wondering if i can get a pass to leave base with them. I have heard that you can't get a leave pass for a boyfriend but nothing actually mentions if his family comes to which in my case i know they will show up every chance they all get. I read that you may be able to get a pass to stay overnight off base again as long as its with family and not just with a boyfriend so can i count them as family?

You said you've "heard", but may I ask from whom? Have you asked your recruiter yet?

I can only speak from my experience. Assuming you meet all the requirements, you would be eligible to receive a pass for both Family Day (on post) as well as graduation (off post) with whomever comes to see you. However, if you're not "legally" related to those attending than you wouldn't be able to stay off post overnight or even get transported to AIT with said person.

I'll get corrected if this is inaccurate info, but this is how it was at Ft. Jackson as of May '12.

      YMMV...

I didn't get an overnight pass when my wife came or when my parents came. I wouldn't expect to get any overnights until after you leave post if I were you.

There are two kinds of rumors in the Army. There's the good kind: the rumor that something terrible is going to happen, and it doesn't. Then there's the bad kind: the rumor that something good is going to happen, and it doesn't.

          Re: Family day Graduation day?

I actually heard that non family can come to visit me on graduation day via my boyfriend when he went to basic about 4 years ago at Fort sill. long before we ever met. He told me how alot of his buddy's there had the same thing going on/ No blood family so others came he isn't sure tho if they got passes to leave the base with them or not because after the graduation he left asap to get to his next base for AIT and never found out if they got the passes. Also read on many many informative websites that it is possible for them to visit, but however it also never answered my questions about whether or not i might be able to leave base with them.
And Lance13A Please fully re read the other thread I wrote yesterday, Respectfully As i said on that one I do not want to NOT try to get passes and phone use just because it may not happen. If i am never once allowed to use a phone even a 2 min call at all i will survive basic If i am never allowed to leave base ever I will survive. I have no problem working my ass off just to be told no that i cant use my phone or that i cant leave base. Unlike many others I can handle the let down. The fact that i may never get to speak to my loved ones long enough to say more then im alive or maybe go off base WILL NEVER influence my decision to give everything my all.
Those who try may succeed every once and awhile, Those who never try will never succeed at all.

            Refer to post #3.

Also, if you already know where you will go for BCT look up their website. Great info can be found regarding BCT, phases, local info, & the "packet" info regarding Family/Graduation Day. More than likely, they're on Facebook and have additional info.

Utilize and exhaust your resources available. I understand that this is one of them, but there are others out there that can provide a more "direct" answer.

Tracking. It has honestly been years since I've been to BCT and even then I did not have non-family members visit me there. I would suggest the most obvious answer, and that is to ask your recruiter. In the end, I am certain your Drill Sergeant will give you all the details you need once you get there. That doesn't help much with planning ahead, I know, but the answer you're looking for may depend on where you are attending BCT and general rules established by the post.

Hopefully, that helps even a little.

Look, the deal is it's 100% dependent on your BCT Company. We had other companies that got overnights for graduation; we had to be back by 2100. Nobody can tell you what you'll get but your Drill Sergeants. Like I was saying, just plan to not get passes for now, and if something changes, write your boyfriend and his family with the details.

                  Re: Family day Graduation day?

I agree that it is up to your BCT chain of command to determine leave policies. For my cycle, privates could sign out with a battle buddies family. There just had to be a family member over 18 with one of the privates to sign them out. I'm not sure how boyfriend/girlfriend situations would have worked out. All but two privates at AIT left on an overnight pass with family escorting girlfriends or boyfriends, so the policy never was mentioned.

My question is very similar to spyder. My family has all but legally disowned me and the people who want to come see me are my boyfriend and his family. Vegas is a long ways from fort Leonard wood and my boyfriend is a paramedic he has to put in for the time off in advancement and I leave next month. His parents have become my family and they really want to come. But I just wanted to know in advace if they are even going to be able to sign me out. I don't want them to go planning things or anything which they will If I can't even leave base.
