What score do you need on the A.S.V.A.B. to be able to join the N.G.? And what score do you need to pick any job you want?

An AQFT of 31, job wise it depends because every job has certain line scores that apply to that job. If you score a 99 you most likely will be ASVAB qualified for any MOS.

M.O.S. stands for Military Occupational Specialty. That's the "job" they train you to do. You need a 31 to enlist, at all, in the ARNG. The ASVAB mostly tests you on math and English comprehension, but there are also parts on mechanics and electrical stuff. It shows what are your strengths and weaknesses. And, there's THE BIG SCORE on the ASVAB (when people say "I got a 35" or "I got an 87"), but then there are composites where they add and multiply and jiggle numbers to come up with what area you would be best at. For example, if you are just barely passable in math, the ARNG probably won't stick you in Financial. Or, if you don't know a dipstick from a hole in the ground, you probably won't be a mechanic.
That being said, if you really score well on the main parts, you could still qualify for your "dream job", even if it's not something you normally do well, yet. They figure if you do well enough on the math/English, you have strong enough gray matter to LEARN whatever skill you want.
