My recruiter wants me to skip basic since I am prior service, USMC. But I think I should go because it's been 13 years since I was enlisted, and I don't want to be like a deer in headlights when I go to AIT (if my waiver goes through). Can I go to Basic if I want?

You'll be fine, I was out for over 8 years and came back in after 9-11-01, it was like I never left, with the exception of 2-3 new weapons (249, 240 and MK 19) but you'll pick up on them easily if your unit has them assigned. What MOS are you going for?

well, the thing is, I never finished boot camp. I had I week to go and my arm was broken in pugil sticks, and I got med boarded, honorable medical. My dd-214 shows exactly 4 months of service with the National Defense ribbon, MOS is something like 9900 Basic Marine. I was going for Infantry, but never got there. Basically, I don't know squat. I'm going for 11b in The National Guard.
