pain. lol but you will be fine. you are a soldier and nothing you experience at basic will be harder than what u would find at war. don't worry u will be ok.

I just got back from BCT at Ft. Knox. So, I can't speak other BCTs but they don't play that stuff in Kentucky. You'' be lucky if you get your first phone call before you hit white phase!

William:
I live not so far from Ft. Knox. In fact that's where the comminsary that I go to is at.
Have you already been to Ft. Knox, or are you still waiting to go?

Nothing expensive. Don't bring anything electronic. It'll get taken up, either by those in authority or by those who think they'd be better off with your iPod than you are.

I ship out three days after you. But not to Knox.

I'm headed to Leonard Wood.

OK, I know this is an old post and you're done by now, but for others...

In 1989 even a lot of the things on the list that the recruiters gave us that we were instructed to take were taken from us as contraband. Bring as little as you can. You won't be able to wear your civilian clothing, you won't be allowed to read anything that the Army doesn't give you (except your bible and maybe you'll be able to buy a newpaper once or twice during BCT), entertainment devices- not allowed and you won't have time anyway (we typically had about 30min in the evenings, occasionally an hour- that includes time to get yourself cleaned up and dressed for bed). Travel to BCT as light as possible- bring what books you need day to day for your religion (your bible, and if your religion requires prayer books bring them), take a tooth brush, toothpaste, and anti-persperant (though you'll be able to buy them while there as they are used up), bring stationary and stamps, bring the best quality running shoes you can afford, bring a pen and small notebook, and no more than 2-3 days worth of underwear (when you get your clothing issue they'll even give you Army green underwear).
