Just curious as I've been talking to many recruiters lately. Specifically, Army National Guard, Air National Guard/Reserves, and Naval Reserves.

The Air Force Reserves is out of the question. I have 2 DUIs from when I was younger. I know I need a waiver and they said they wouldn't do it. However, the other options said they would get me a waiver if I wanted to join.

My question is what are the factors one should look at when deciding on a branch to serve? My main goal out of all of this is to become a better person. I want to serve my country but also earn a degree so education benefits are very important to me.

I've been to a bunch of different websites but I still don't see much of a difference between them except maybe the jobs offered at each individual base. I was thinking of going for a career in engineering. I am currently enrolled in Electrical Engineering at a local tech college.

Just in case you haven't read it... this complete article (14 chapters) is a good source of information:

If you look at the Critical MOS List for your State... you may find that MOS 21R-Interior Electrician or 21P-Prime Power Production Specialist... or other Corps of Engineer MOSs are available.

As far as the Naval Reserve... you might be able to go into the Seabees as a Construction Electrician.
