Does the guard even have apaches? If so does anyone know how long and how hard the school is? I am trying to decide if I want to put in my warrant officer or officer package. I want to fly bad. Any advise would be appriciated.

There are several battalions of Apaches in the Guard. I know that Pennsylvania, Arizona, and North Carolina have them.

Flight school is somewhere in the neighborhood of 9-10 months. This includes IERW (Initial Entry Rotary Wing) in the trainer and then you're track. As far as it being hard? It's very intensive training. The course is front-loaded meaning that the majority of information you need to learn is presented during the first few weeks and you're responsible for learning it. This includes emergency precautions, -10 (Operating manual) info, aircraft limitations, etc... That being said, it was the best time in my life and I'm looking forward to getting back to Rucker soon for my UH-60 transition for the Guard.

Yes the Gaurd has Apaches I am currently at Rucker in IERW and have about a year and a half of flight school left due to the back up of students. And yes flight school is definatly hard. AH-64D school is the hardest school on Rucker. If you have any questions feel free to ask
