heyyy... I just wanted to tell everyone who is trying to lose weight that YOU CAN DO IT! I lost 13 pounds in 4 weeks and I'm still working on it. I thought that i had no will power at all but i managed to eat healthily for 4 weeks.. which is longer than i ever have been on a "diet"... not even a diet i just eat 1500 calories a day... and then I do exercises.. like running up and down stairs or going for a jog. It will work if you stick to it. Just don't give up! i know i wont. I'm doing this so when im old enough to talk to a recruiter.. i can go into ROTC. Trust me... if a 15 year old can do it.. anyone can do it.. i've looked at all these bulletins and they all say the same thing.. so just apply it to you!

Yea?? It's easier to loose weight at 15 than at say my age (Almost 28 :( ). You matabilizum(SP) is faster than ours. Its still possible but just harder.

On that note, I dropped 15% body fat in 2 months to join back up. Oh yea, I'm 38. I agree, It only takes a little hard work and determination and anyone can get in (or back in) shape.

It is much harder as you get older...

When I came in at 18, I would eat fast food almost every day and never gained an ounce. I'd come back from the gym and just cook a lb of ground beef with like 5 eggs and just eat it all...

30 now, there is no way I could ever do that. If I eat one fast food meal a week I feel guilty. The weight stays there for some reason...

I agree that it defintely gets harder as you get older, but the older you get the more that you "should" be able to motivate yourself and have enough to control to do the right thing and stick with a good workout/eating plan so I guess it sort of balances out. I dropped 11 pounds and lost 15% body fat because I stuck with a plan. At 38 that's no small achievement (if I do say so myself :p).

yeah.. but i do have a problem.. i do track and field, and in order to gain distance (shot put)... we have to continue to work out and then gain muscle weight. I kinda get mad when i weigh in at the end of the week and i didnt lose as much or i gained some weight. I always read those basic training get fit books. (freaking 20 dollars at borders!), and they all say that doing push ups and sit ups and running is way better than working on your muscle in the gym.. so i wish i could do just that

Don't worry about weight. Weight is never going to disqualify you if you meet the minimum body fat percentage.

Lost 11lbs and 15% body fat??? Did you weigh something close to 115lb? Ha Ha.. Good Job to everyone, diet and exercise are great and when you succeed like you guys have its a motivation move for all of us. Great Job!!

Actually I was expecting to see more of a weight loss than I did. i was over 230 when I first talked to a recruiter and 2 months later I was 209 when I shipped. I also dropped my blood pressure 20 points on both numbers in that time.

That's what my recruiter was telling me too. I'm a few pounds over the max weight limit. But he said with my body build I should have no problem getting in. They're just gonna tape me. :)

Thanks for posting this, I have 20%bodyfat and was told at my first RSP that I have to lose weight, it's only 3 pounds but I'm 6'1 and 206 ish, I would hope that bodyfat is more important than overall weight.

I was 284 in Jan 07 when I decided that I wanted to rejoin and am now at 221. Hopefully a few more months and I'll achieve my goal and join the IN NG :D
