My name is David Wilhelm. I was wondering if you have ever heard of someone waiting for over 3 months to hear from the NGB to get the go ahead to go to MEPS. That is the point that I am at now. I have some med issues as well as some moral. I have been to the recruiter in Kingston, NY, and have been waiting to hear from the NGB on the med issues for 3+ months now. The moral issues can be waived. I have a rod and some pins in my leg which I recieved because of a car accident. I run 5 miles a day (almost every day) and have been working out since last Dec. I ruck 80lbs about five miles every so often to keep fit as well. I am highly motivated and want to go 11b. I am also more than willing to volunteer for duty downrange. I have a RE3-P from the Marine Corps in 1994, broken arm in boot camp, Honorable Medical discharge.
Thank you,
David Wilhelm

SGT Dan,
The other day I went to see an ARNG recruiter. I wasn't very impressed. I think I knew more then him about joining the ARNG just by reading this forum and the questions I needed answered, he couldn't. He said he needed to talk to his boss.
I am prior service. When filling out the medical, he said that 'they' did not need to know anything prior to my first enlistment. Is this correct? Do I just fill out the medical for things that happened after my first enlistment?
How can I find other ARNG recruiters in my area?
Thank you.

Hi,
I was in the Army Guard from 1992-1994. I was in the split option program. I went to basic in the summer of 1992. I completed it. I never shipped in the summer of 1993 because I was overweight. I was given a general discharge and a Re-3 code. I was in for 2 years and 2 months.
I am losing the weight now and I want to rejoin. A recruiter told me that I am a glossary non-prior service and I would have to do basic again. I was also told my TIS would not count and that I would have to start that over again. I was also told something completely different by other recruiter. What is true?
Thanks
I would ask that recruiter where he found that and for him to show it to you, but based on what I found you would not have to complete basic training again. You would , however, have to complete AIT. As far as your RE code, I would need to know the narrative reason for sepration so that I can tell you if it waiverable. Remember that everything that I ever say that is a "for sure" thing is based on California. I cannot promise anything for other states. Please get back to me when you can. The best way to get back to me is daniel.degendorfer@us.army.mil

Dear David,
I greatly admire your dedication towards looking to come back into the military. It says a lot about an individual who answers the call of duty for a second time. As far as your question regarding the length of time it takes NGB to get back to you; it does take time. I've seen some take as long as 6 months to a year. I am not saying that it would be the same for you, but the best thing to do, is to keep doing what you are doing and make sure that everything is disclosed to your recruiter. I'm sorry I cannot be of more help on that, but if there is anything else that you would like to know, please to not hesitate to ask. The best way to get in contact with me is : daniel.degendorfer@us.army.mil

Samber,
The reason why your recruiter is saying that is because the main part of what MEPS would want to know is based on what happened since you have been out. Don't get me wrong, but a lot of things come into play. I would need to know when you seperated, what your RE code / narrative reason was, as well as when your last FULL PHYSICAL was. What state are you in and what area? I may know a couple of recruiters that are will take care of you. I hope I was able to provide some insight and if not, then please do not hesitate to contact me. Best way to contact me is daniel.degendorfer@us.army.mil
Hope to Hear From You Soon,
SGT Degendorfer, Daniel

I have an RE code 3, SPN code KFS. Waiver is being submitted tomorrow. How long will I have to wait to find out if it is approved?

It depends on your state and type of waiver.

I am 35 years old... Does that limit me to certain MOS and does that mos list shrink as I get older. The way it looks I will be close to 36 before I can enlist in the guard. My main MOS intrest is 68w.
Thanks for your answer and your service!
