I was looking into the 13E MOS of cannon fire direction specialist, and was told by a recruiter that they have changed it to 13D field artillery tactical data systems specialist. The reason I was looking into this was the location close by where I live, and I am not sure if they do not have the 13E but they do have the 13D. Did they actually get rid of the 13E, and if so does anyone know how they actually changed the job, since the descriptions for the 2 differ some?

13D merged 13E and 13C, which were respectively technical and tactical fire direction jobs (this is of course a simplified explanation). Each MOS had different computer systems. The new 13D MOS reflects a more common system at the firing battery level and higher. In the long-run, this merger is good for you, since it opens up more jobs in more places (and thus more opportunities for promotion) in your unified MOS.

Thank you for the answer, just wanted to make sure I wasn't getting pushed around, but that makes me happy. I did like the description of it and it didn't seem that much different really so overall good then.

I was a 13D on the active duty side and I honestly didn't like the job aspect of it. It was fun when the cannons fired, but that was about it. I did alot of tent building, antenna constructing and radio watch. Thankfully when I got deployed we didn't really do any of that stuff and mainly did Infantry/MP operations.

Anyways, if that's something you REALLY want, go for it. If your iffy, find something else.
