I am looking at going into OCS (accelerated) in Illinois as an MP ultimately. I am prior service have a 4 yr degree and meet all eligibility requirements. How much is the officer enlistment bonus and is it 1/2 now 1/2 later or is there none?
I am solely considering officer vs. enlisted based upon the bonus. I know that deployment will happen and officer pay is above enlisted yet with the bonus amounts varing would enlisted pay plus bonus = more in the long run?

If you're looking at this primarily from a financial standpoint, then don't pursue a commission.
As of now, we have a $10k lump sum officer accession bonus. This is only payable after you complete OCS and then BOLC-II/III. It could be up to two years before you are eligible, and I'm not sure the bonus will be in place two years from now.

Maj Ritchie,
This bonus is that standard within most/all states? I realize different states have different incentives as well. Currently my information has been provided via my brother who is a Second Lt with the VA Gaurd.
Thank you,

Thank you,
The state has nothing to do with it. This is a national program. States may have additional incentives on top of this, however, which will vary.
