I attend school at a private college in Iowa, I am also on the softball and am there on scholarship. I was wondering how my joining the guard would conflict with this. I would like to find this out before going in to talk to my coach about it. Thank you for the help!!!:D

The National Guard Drill Schedule is very compatable with college schedules. Basic Training and Job Specific training (AIT) can be done during the summer months, while school is not in session, and the monthly training is one weekend per month. If you have a Softball game scheduled during a drill weekend, you can let your unit know ahead of time, and usually they will let you make it up some other time. Also with your scholarship, you can still get the GI bill and tuition assistance, and the money will be yours to spend on whatever you want. I went to the University of Vermont while I was in the Guard, and my mother worked there, so I got free tuition. I got the GI Bill and used if for a car payment. You should talk to a recruiter in your area and see what incentives your state offers.
