I just left active duty where I did a tour in Iraq with 2/14 CAV. I am contractually obligated to 2 years in the Guard or Reserve. I picked the Guard because there is a unit in my town. However, it is an engineer unit and I don't really want to be in a engineer unit. My current MOS is 92Y but I never did my job while I was active. My unit was hit pretty hard our first month in Iraq so I was pressed into service as scout to make sure our Strykers where properly manned. Anyways, I don't like being a 92Y and I want to change to 19D. My questions are do I have to wait until my window to re-enlist to I can reclass as a Scout and change units, or can I change units and let my new Cav unit send me to school to get MOSQ'd. Also, do I have to go through the whole of 19D osut or can I skip the BCT part of it.

I'm not sure about transfering units during your 2 year contract.
I can tell you that you do not have to attend OSUT or BCT again. Depending on what state you are in, you might not have to even attend the 7week long 19D course at Ft Knox. Some states have there own RTI (National Guard Regional Training Institute). Since you already attened regular AIT you can re-mosq at RTI which is much shorter (usually weekends in lue of drill and then 2 weeks in lue of AT, you can drive your p.o.v. to school) Check with your state to see if this MOS is avaible at an RTI. I live in PA and we offer this course as an RTI course, check this link for an example:
http://sites.state.pa.us/PA_Exec/Military_Affairs/166regt/1bn/19d10h.htm

Try google to find a RTI in your state or look at your states NG site for a link.
I reclassed at an RTI it was easier this way. I also reclassed by going to an active school once too. I went 13M which was with an OSUT at Ft. Sill. The class I was with just finished BCT and moved to AIT. I was a Non-IET (non-initial entry trainee) so we stayed in a seperate barracks. It was more of a school enviroment for Non-IET's. We only went to formations with the OSUT soldiers to go to class toghther. Before and after class was our time. Just don't influence the OSUT soldiers in any negative way. The Drills will smoke you for this to set an example. (I was smoked the first day for walking across the drill pad in front of the OSUT soldiers!) They always told us "look sharp and don't tell their OSUT soldiers what life in the Army is like outside of the training enviroment!" You show respect to the Drill's in front of the OSUT soldiers and the Drill's will not bother you at all, they know yu already did this **** before.

Hope this helps a little, Good luck!
