Howdy all,
I will have my BS in Criminal Justice in about a month or so and I am figuring out how many promotion points that will get me.
Thanks!

I was considering going enlisted but I think I am going to go Active OCS. :)
I found out that having a BS can only fill the education group to 100 points, no more. :P

How many promo points do you need for a promotion? If you complete your 4 year degree and enlist as enlisted personnel you can join as an e-4 automatically? I guess what im asking is, will you start BCT as an E-4? If so, how much in-service time would you need to accumulate before you can be considered for a promotion to e-5?

You need one year time in grade to go from E-4 to E-5. Under the new promotion point system, the max points for 'post secondary courses' is 80 out of 250 'admin' points possible. There are another potential 750 'board (leadership) points' that are awarded subjectively by your board/chain of command. You also need to be qualified in your duty MOS, have no flags against you, and have a slot available for you.
