My husband has been thinking about going back in the service as part of the MO guard. He served for 7 years (3 in the KS guard and then 4 active) He got out in 2002.
Coming from a strictly numbers stand point (bonuses) Which would be better? One of his former MOS is both a national critical MOS and a state critical.
He has been thinking about going to OCS. SO would it be better to join as enlisted and then apply for OCS, or to do it all through his recruiter?

Thanks for all your help

What's his age? If he's 35 or older, I strongly recommend to enlist with an OCS contract, because age 39 is the max commissioning age, and that's with an NGB waiver. If he's younger than that, he may wish to serve as an enlisted Soldier for a few years to utilize the enlisted incentives, and then attend OCS.

I recommend that you not make this into a numbers game, but decide on what you want for a career, and pursue that. If money is your primary concern, then stay enlisted.

He'll be 31 next month. He'd been thinking about going officer since he was in before as enlisted. He said if he was going to go in again, he was going to go all the way and get his bars. I think it really is one of his goals. He made it to E-4(P) before he had to have surgery and couldn't go to PLDC. And then was medically discharged.
As far as money, it really doesn't matter either way. He just wants to get back in.
Thanks for your help, Maj. Ritchie.
