After my 3 year tour in the Guard is completed can I switch from the National Guard to the U.S. Army and would I have to do basic training again?

You can switch over with no training requirments, you just might not be able to retain the rank you have in the guard. But did you join the guard"? or are you just thinking about it ?

I will be walking into the recruiter's office in 3 months when I'm finished with my weight loss goal. I just picked up an ASVAB study guide yesterday.

OK. Right now I am 5' 10" and I weight 235 pounds. A lot of this is muscle mass. I lift weights 4 days a week. I plan on cutting back on the weight lifting and concentrating mostly on running. Does the ANG take body fat percentage into acccount? It says I have to weigh 195 but right now if I drop my weight to 205 I will have a low body fat percentage.

Yes the army has a body fat percentage that is based on hieght and age, its called getting taped, and this is done if you are over the body wieght, which many people enlisting and currently in are, its understandable that if you lift wieghts you will wieght more, but the contrast of your waist to your neck is how we determine body fat for males

I will shoot for 195 lbs then. I can lose 40 lbs in 3 or 4 months no problem. I'll cut back on the weights. In the mean time is there anything I should be doing besides getting in shape and studying for the ASVAB? At 195 lbs I'll most likely have a 31" waist. I'm not getting much smaller than that! LOL
