go guard. in the end the benfits are better. yes you can be infantry, just ask a recuiter near you if your state has 11 bravo. you don't have to report to the unit nearest you. if you go infantry then you'll be sent to the nearest infantry unit with a open slot. but i'm telling you the cool stuff is in combat engineering 21 bravo for the win! ether way i'm glad your thinking of joining the best thing you can do for yourself is find a a recuiter, this website can help. email him and make an appointment. don't worry about all of the stories about lying recuiters you're bound to hear when people find out you want to sign up. none of them know what there talking about, some people just don't like the military. contact a recuirter and work with him to find out what you want. look at the benfits online and find out what benfits come with what mos. good luck!

If you really want 11B (Infantry) your better off going in the National Guard, but it will need to be a unit that has a 11B slot. The reserves do not have a lot of combat arms units. The national guard has a lot more combat arms slots. Some states have there own state National Guard web site , try a search on google for your state NG site. Most of them have a unit locator on them, that might help find a Infantry unit close to you. If there is a Armor unit next to you, maybe you would be interested in 19D (Cav Scout).
I'm not sure where Logan Co is, but I know there is Infantry in Barbourville, Louisville, and I think Frankfort. There is also Armor in Bowling Green.
Contact a recruiter and see if he has a list of units in your area.
Don't settle for an MOS other than what you want. Good Luck!

If you want to go Combat Arms you will have to join the National Guard the reserves do not have Combat MOS's .You do not have to become the MOS that has the closest unit to you. You could travel where ever in your state if you wanted to. You should think long and hard about what MOS you would like to take you can always get another MOS but this is your first one and might as well make the best of it.
