I am a bit worried about my recruiter. I have been dealing with a local recruiter on putting together a packet for OCS. I met with him a couple times to talk about various preliminary things. I have retaken the ASVAB (prior service) and met all the requirements for scores, raw score 94, GT 125. I turned some paperwork in and he told me there would be more information he would need to complete the packet. Then I didn't hear from him for a little over 3 weeks when I sent an email asking what was the progress. He informed me that he was going slow, at my request, and he didn't see a problem. I thought fine must just be me. Now after more than 3 more weeks I still haven't heard from him. I initially told him he didn't have to **** himself for me and that I knew he had other obligations and I wasn't expecting anything overnight. So maybe he is thinking I'm wasting his time, I don't know.

So I guess my question is, what do I do next? Being prior service I know what some will say, use the chain of command. In the real world that really only ****** people off. Been there, done that. Should I find a new recruiter? I don't have a ton of time seeing as how I'm 36 turning 37 in a couple months. Maybe he thinks things will go fine but really, we are talking about the US government here. Something will get hung up somewhere, at least once and I'm really trying to start with this next class. The CA ANG symposium is in October so the clock is ticking.

Thanks for any help or advice.

It sounds like when you first talked to your recruiter, you wanted to take things slow. If you are feeling like things are going too slow, you may want to convey this to your recruiter. Tell him that you want to move forward, and ask him if there is anything you need to do to make things move more quickly. If you are still getting the run around, tell him you want to do something ASAP, or you will find another recruiter. This should give him a new sense or urgency.

Thanks SSG Fletcher. Like I said I'm a bit affraid it could be my fault that's why I contacted him the first time. I'll probably give him a call maybe he knows the timeline and isn't worried.

Move with a sense of purpose. If you aren't commissioned by age 39, you'll never be. Look at the calendar and determine your age at commissioning (not your age now).
