Im in the process of enlisting into the national guard for my state. I want to go 19D. Im prior service navy. I was discharged back in Feb 2000, hororable discharge, RE-4 due to a personality disorder (sep code JFV). I know i don't have a personality disorder, i was just saying stuff on purpose so i can get my transfere to sea duty quicker and they took it another way and said i had a personality disorder. I talked to the recruiter and everything... I know for a fact i want 19D! he said he can do a waiver for my RE4 but i haven't told him that i was diagnosed with the personality disorder, i don't want to tell him until im sure i can get in with it. Is there a medical waiver that i can get in with for the personality disorder? Im 28, i run 6 miles a day, and im in great shape wanting to go airborne and rangers.

Think i can get a waiver for the personality disorder so i can make this happen?

your gonna have to be honest with him, he cannot help you unless he knows everything.

Well i do recommend that you tell your recruiter becuase that is a serious thing to be diagnossed with.

And basicaly it means you can not join for quite some time.

Yes there is a waiver for it but its nothing to do if you can run and in great shape.

What the waiver needs to show is that you went to therepy, counsling or other such rehab that proves that you either improved or never had the disorder. This usualy takes about 15-30 appointments to prove which could span up to if not more over a year worth of time.

Again tell your recruiter he might be willing to work with you but most people do not like getting lied to since im sure he asked you why you got discharged to recieve the RE-4, and he cant do a waiver without your dd214 so he will find out one way or another.

Ok, first you lied about saying stuff so you could get what you wanted. Now you want back in the military, and are now lying to your recruiter and not telling the whole truth. And you think you would do great in the Guard??

I would not want you in my unit. All you seem to do is lie to get what you want, and when you dont get it, you lie some more. Not trying to be mean, just honest. I really doubt you could get a waiver. You lies are catching up with you, and you won't be able to lie to them about lieing in the first place about your lies.

Cut your losses, and dont join.
