Hi,
I am a former Marine with over 8 years of service, Honorably discharged in January 06 with a RE-1A code. My primary MOS was 2862(Electronics Tech) with secondary MOS's of 2844(Org Repair)/2841(Radio Repairman)/8531(Marksmanship Instr). A year before I made my decision to leave(for personal/family reasons), my Platoon Commander and Company CO were both pushing me to be a Marine WO in the electronics field, which I painfully had to turn down.
This leads to my question.
Can a former service member, other than previous Army, qualify to enlist as a Warrant Officer?
In my case, can a former Marine, with an electronics background, qualify to enlist as a Warrant Officer?
I understand that it will be based upon the needs of the force, but is this possible?

Thanks,
Steven Stone

In a word, yes. That said, please understand that the WO appointment process is both an art and a science. You need to hook up with your state's Officer Strength Manager or Command Chief WO to help you navigate the process. The process isn't that hard, but it is a bit non-intuititive.
