So, I've been researching and apparently the legally mandated retirement age for the military is 55 (60 in some unspecified "limited situations"). Currently, the Army and Reserves/Guard are allowing enlistment up to age 42 (and OCS through 39). So, if I join at age 37 would I be booted 2 years before earning a pension or is it waivable and would I be able to serve until 57 and be eligible for a pension (no, the answer to this question won't make me change my mind- I just need to know what I need to do to plan for my eventual retirement).
