This has probably been asked in this forum sometime before, but can anyone tell me if the Guard has Rangers? Or is that strictly a "regular" Army option? Thanks for the help...

Don't mistake a Ranger tab with a actual Ranger regiment. The only actual true Ranger Regiment is the 75th, which is regular army. Depending on your MOS and unit, you can go to Ranger school and get tabbed. If you are looking to jointhe National Guard, your best bet would be to find a LRSD or SF unit. That is the closest type of unit and as far as I know most LSRD units like there NCO's to be tabbed.
Don't take my word in stone, but I am pretty sure of what I posted.

You can trust what you posted, in the LRSD units the NCO's and Officers are required to be Ranger Qualified for thier slot. In an SF unit the SOT-A teams are required to be Ranger Qualified, as well those with an 18 series MOS (or other high speed trooper who is MOS qualified) also can pursue Ranger Qualification as well.

There are previous posts about this subject in this forum... just not sure where at the moment - but you might try the Service Section.

Also, a lot of the new light infantry units are slotted to have most of their NCO's and officers as ranger qualified by MTOE (Modified Table of Organization and Equipment or, in simple terms, the job positions and type of equipment a unit is authorized). You can easily find out if this is the case with the infantry units in your state by asking your recruiter.

This will also be a good progression route if eventually you want to be part of an LRSD or become SF qualified. You'll acquire a large portion of the core skills you need to be considered for those units if you decide to transfer at a later time.

If your unit sends you to Ranger school, they will usually extend the years of commitment right?

The Ranger course has no bearing on the term of your enlisting commitment. It's entirely up to the unit (actually the state) to decide when they send you, although the length of your remaining time in service is probably highly considered.
