Can anyone tell me how long they have had to wait to get their waivers approved? My recruiter submitted my stuff to see if it could be waived about 3 weeks ago. He said it should take about 2 weeks for both a medical and moral waiver. He is pretty positive that they will be approved but it hasn't happened yet. I keep calling him and emailing too, but nothing yet. He says that it should be in by now. So if anyone reads this that has had to have a waiver, or given some knows anything about it it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, David

I am in the same situation as you and have been waiting for about 4 weeks. I asked a helpful member on here and he told me it should take no longer than 4 weeks for a moral waiver. But since you have two it could take longer. Are your waivers going to the NGB or just to the state? I am trying to get a waiver for a honorable discharge for misconduct for one hot pee test. I have been working on everything since last august because my recruiter kind of screwed around when it came to processing my paperwork. I also call him and email him once a week, and last week he told me he would ask the liason, but enver gave me an answer. If you do not mind me asking what are your waivers for?

My waivers are for 1. A rod in the leg from a car accident. The Dr. that put the rod in about 5 years ago examined my leg and some new x-rays and gave a note saying that the leg is completely healed and the hardware is not necessary to keep the leg together(+ I run 2-4 miles every other day). 2. And for the moral CLICK HERE (http://www.1800goguard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5252) I know that's a lot of stuff but the recruiter said it may be possible. I sure hope so. I've been working out and rucking 70lbs 3-6 miles every few days too. He said I can't get a security clearance and could probably only be able to be 11b, but that's the whole reason I want to join anyway. I don't even care about the perks, in fact I'd pay each month if I had to! That's how much I want to join.

My recruiter called me today and said that he should find out yea or nay around 10 April 2007. So that was about four weeks. I hope all goes well!

Agreed, the wait is nearly unbearable. Mine is a bit more complicated a medical waiver, and they are still "researching my condition."

I have been waiting for over 4 months for a NGB waiver. I call my recruiter at least once a week and he tells me the same thing "I haven't heard anything yet." I talked to him the other day and he siad that he can only ask the nco at the state level every so often or he gets reamed. He also said no news is good news. He always gives me some excuse about why he hasn't heard anything. I started this waiver process last august and it still had not been approved. I am starting to get frustrated.

Medical waivers should not take more than a week. On routine conditions, I've seen waivers come back the same day.

If after a week you don't have an answer to a medical waiver, then gently but firmly quiz your Recruiter about this. If you don't have confidence that he has done his part, then feel free to get his supervisor involved.

Waivers other than medical can take longer (although some moral waivers can happen quickly as well).

Nevertheless, this is your life and your career, and no one should work any harder on this than you.

What is the go-around process then to find out the situation of the waiver? I was to understand once it's submitted there is little they can do to expedite the situation.

I've heard the "No-News" is "Good News" but it's been a good long while without a specific answer.

[EDIT] The Sergeant's computer crashed, coupled with staffing changes at MEPS the waiver was a bit long in coming. Hopefully an answer will be forthright in coming, as apparantly the Master Sergeant is helping work on the application. Not sure if that helps, but it's a morale booster for sure.

I call and email my recruiter weekly and all he can tell me is that all of the necessary paperwork has been sent to the NGB and that he will call me back when he hears anything.

I guess there is nothing to do but wait. I'm using the time to work out and run. I've improved my 2mi run time by about 2 minutes since march, and I've doubled my pushups!

I understand your frustration, mine was held up for the longest time due a minor form error that prevented them from verifying my social security number, thus a delay.

To add to it, my recruiter from High School listed my social with an incorrect middle name which meant an added 2-week delay for verification. I know it takes time, but I don't think we're always highest on the list of Priorities for MEPS. Luckily I've got a sharp recruiter who spotted the mistake, otherwise it would have languished perhaps forever.

If concerned about it, you may consider asking his boss if there is a way to double check that the packet has been processed through MEPS because there is sometimes very little your recruiter can do without assistance. Better to make your opinion known than to wait I believe.

I have, they just tell me that there is nothing to be done but wait. But like I said, I just keep working out so that if I'm accepted, the physical part of basic won't be AS tough.

My NGB-level med waiver for ACL repair took about 6 months, FWIW.

Good luck...

Any word yet? I'm in a similar situation for a medical/vision waiver. Its been 5 weeks. I thought it would be pretty quick and simple process. Did anyone ever figure out a work around, maybe call my senator? lol

Mine took almost 11 months. I've heard of some taking as little as two weeks. Use the time to work out and memorize the Army Core Values, Soldiers Creed, and General Orders, That's what I did. Now I get 300 on the PT test last 2 drills and I hve started memorizing other stuff. Don't lose hope.
