Good Evening,

2 years ago I was dicharged from the Marine Corps with a General Under Honorable discharge for a personality disorder and depression. For the past year and a half I have looked into re-enlisting in the Marine Corps but have not made any leway at all. I understand that re-enlisting with a RE-3P is difficult but not entirely impossible. While i agree with my original diagnose that at the time I was very depressed over a family issues, a car accident, and some other things but I disagree about having a personality disorder. So last year I went to two different civillian therapists to be evaluated, both of them found me to be free of a personality disorder and recommended me for Military service. My question is where do i take it from here and do you have any advice for me. I am very serious about my intentions. Thank you very much.

Go sit down with a recruiter and bring the med paperwork with you. You can join with your RE-Code. It will require a waiver because of the conditions you have listed. It will take some time time but its doable.

FPGRUNT, Im in the same boat you are... prior service Navy with RE-3G for personality disorder w/depression. I also went and had a civilian psychodiagnostic interview with MMPI 2 testing a while after i got out with no evidence of any disorders with favorable outlook for re-enlistment. (I admit that i grossly exaggerated my symptoms while in the service for personal gain and i regret my actions.) My Waiver was sent up Feb or March 2006 and i am still waiting for a response back. Since i am further along than you in the enlistment process and should (hopefully) after 14 months get some type of response back in the very near future i will try and keep you posted. Keep in mind regardless of my specific outcome yours may differ so try anyway, but be prepared and be commited for a long wait on a 50/50 shot. If any recruiters want to chime in as to why its taking me 14 months for a response from the NGB or wherever that would be great....
