You truely start your job AFTER BCT,AIT. "Job Training". The one weekend a month drill is required and it is not MOS based.

Yeah, I know this all happens after Basic and AIT. But I was wanting to know whether drill and "work" were separate and how many weekends a month will I work for the Natl Guard.

You will do weekend drills for the duration of what you signed up for. If you sign up for 6 years, you do weekend drill for six years and you will do the one weekend per year thing a total of six times.

BCT and AIT are once. Weekend drills are throughout the entirety of your enlistment.

As a National Guard soldier you will perform one weekend of duty a month and a 2 week Annual Training each year. This is when you work... one weekend a month.

There are options to find temporary Active Duty Special Work assignments that will have you working full time on military orders. This is something you can talk to your unit about - they will be able to point you in the direction of your state's availability to support thier needs.

You can also find other opportunities to volunteer for active duty tours, or civilian tech jobs that support your state. Once you are fully qualified you will have the opportunity to pursue such offerings. (You do not have to be a soldier to be a tech, but have to apply and fit the needs - many soldiers fulfill the needs of a technician position via thier military training.)

Where are drills usually held? At an Armory? My recruiter told me drills are held in another town, but that there was a position for my MOS in my hometown...

drills are usually held at an armory. In reguards to the location of the armory it depend.

Your Mos will not matter untill you have returned home from Basic and AIT. Basicly all I did on weekend drills was learn about stuff that I didnt know. Which is why a guard soldier is more prepaired for basic training than any other.

I was wondering if a soldier can serve MORE than one weekend per month in the National Guard. I want to serve as much as possible without going full-time or putting a civilian carrer on hold...

I ask because all I see is "...serve at least one weekend per month..." but have not seen anything to say otherwise.

Hey country Girl, there is nothing better than a country girl. Anyway, on weekend duty you exercise and pt. It dosn't matter waht your MOS is. I am going to bootcamp 6/6/06 and straight to AIT after for 92A. At the present I am trying to switch to Active.

On my first drill before shipping to Basic, I was with a bunch of 11C's (Mortar Plt) dropping rounds at Ft Irwin.:D ..

It really depends on what your unit is doing that month.;)

ok im going 11b also, and yea b4 u go to basic and AIT drills are mostly working out, working on following orders, and they usually set up some teamwork building games.

What do the 11b guys do though? Anyone know? I know its different every week.

sometimes depending on the unit your in and your MOS, you can become a fulltime guard member, but i would assume that this its a rare thing to be a full time guard member...

Is there variations to this?A "MUTA" is an four hour period. That doesn't mean that a MUTA 4 is going to be 16 hours split in to 2 days. That means that is what you are getting paid for. A MUTA 5 is usually Friday night, all of Saturday, and most of Sunday. I'd say around 50 hours. Depending on your unit and your training schedule times vary greatly. If you are going to be in the field, you are going to be doing a lot of time. If you are going to be in your home station, you are probably going to be able to go home and do a lot less time training.

Also, some "high-speed" units, such as SF, do more than one drill a month. My usual drill weekend is 1 weekend a month - MUTA 4. You can ask your recruiter more about this. Ask he/she to talk to the unit that you will be going to to take a look at what their training schedule might be like.
